Real-time shape and color

The sensors are active triangulation devices.
Shape and color information simultaneously for each vertex in multi-CCD and single monochromatic light source proprietary design.
To achieve color-per-vertex performance, color is sampled around vertices over regions comparable in size to that of measurement accuracy.
Common techniques for obtaining shape and color utilize multiple sweep and snapshot sets, taken from stationary positions and assembled in post-processing stages. Compromises between resolution and filed-of-view are necessary; the number of data sets is undetermined; color assignment is approximate and not unique.
Color-per-vertex sensors have been devised in certain research groups, employing polychromatic lasers, i.e. three different laser sources, proprietary optics, high-end cameras and synchronized mirrors. These devices require motorized stages, have limited maneuverability, and their commercialization is unclear.
CLS series delivers color 3-D points natively at high-speeds, in hand-held mode.

Real-time rendering, color live video display

Sensors operation is highly visual. In hand-held mode, user observes model shaping up on screen. On CLS series, matched field of view is displayed live; aiming to spots of interest is easily controllable. Real-time rendering helps to locate holes or missing data. Graphic overlays monitor and control display stand-off alerts and non-contact probing data.

CLS series is the only laser sensor hand-held capable, to feature live high-resolution video navigation. (Top)

Solid-state, palm-sized, digitizing arms ready

Palm-sized, light-weighted, with no moving parts, they are ideal tools for desktop and mobile operations. Vision-based homing permits simple and repeated installations. On-board remote control buttons functionality is flexible and assigned in software.
MVT sensors are first non-contact devices compatible with Microscribe, a popular digitizing arm for many professional designers and modelers.

CLS sensors are the only sensors capable of generating color per vertex natively, in real-time in hand-held mode. XLS are the first to exhibit switching versatility from scan to non-contact probing mode.
Vision-based functionality eliminates the need for hard-touch probes, allowing simpler operations and increased maneuverability.
Designed for retrofitting, with outstanding functionality and weighing less than half pound, are ideal tools for desktop 3-D scanning.

High speed, professional accuracy, large working range

Designed for high-speed, standard sensor can reach up to 38,400 points per second and 0.001" (22um) accuracy.
High data speeds are achieved with uncompromised operating ranges. Compromising between data speed and range is common in many existing systems, by reading fewer pixels from imaging devices, shortening the operating range. MVT sensors have comfortable ranges, between 4.5"-15" on color sensors.
Well known in active triangulation, accuracy increases with geometry baseline, and decreases with the square of the distance to subject. Designed for medium-sized objects, CLS60 and XLS60 work optimally around 4-6" range with speeds of 20,000 to 30,000 pps.

Software

Architected for performance and extension, professionally designed, Moulage software permits direct control over many features, interactively.
Sensors are factory calibrated; Field calibration is not required. Calibration is functionally integrated and performance checks are built-in. When necessary, calibration is performed simply and accurately; no specialized infrastructure or tools are necessary.
Configurations requirements: Pentium 4/HT, 3GHz or better, 1GB, workstation grade graphics card (ATI FireGL, nVidia Quadro4), IEEE PCI adaptor, Windows XP Pro.
Data can be exported in CSV, ASCII and TXT formats for third parties point cloud applications for reverse engineering, modeling and animation.

Industry standard connectivity, on-board controls

All sensors have standard IEEE1394 interface, and can connect directly to almost any PC or Laptop. No dedicated hubs or embedded controllers are required.
No power supply is required on most PCs. Thin and flexible, cables are easily routed where necessary.
A four-button panel is conveniently located to enable mouse and keyboard-free operations. This way self-sufficient functionality is maintained. Lights for power and range alert indicate sensor status.
